Mariana Duarte is a Brazilian filmmaker based in Scotland with a particular interest in travel, displacement and movement in film. She is currently a doctoral researcher at the Edinburgh College of Art, focusing on creative documentary practice. In 2020, after six years as a senior editor at Globo Network, she graduated with an MA from Kino Eyes Erasmus Movie Masters. She worked as a multimedia journalist covering humanitarian issues and directing the short documentary Newcomers (2013), which premiered at Rio de Janeiro International Short Film Festival. She edited TV Shows, commercials, movie trailers and short films, including the drama Three Graces (2020), which screened at Tiradentes Film Festival and São Paulo International Short Film Festival. In 2022, she was selected for the Berlinale Talents.
